so here we are, with about 3 months to go... we've talked, discussed, planned and trained, and we think we're ready!
The LEJOG (Lands End to John O'Groats) journey is a difficult one... it's around 1000 miles, over the hilly terrain of cornwall, Devon and scotland, and around the bleak desolate wastelands of Liverpool. We're planning to do it in just under 3 weeks (18 days to be exact) from June 5th to June 23rd. we will be writing a daily diary on here for everyone to follow, so keep checking back every day for the updates!
We are cycling for two charities, one is AMMF.org, which gives support and funds research into cholangiocarcinoma (a rare form of liver cancer), which a great friend of mine passed away from a few years ago, and secondly for 'Unique', who give support for people affected by rare chromosome disorders, of which my very cute nephew, Toby, is one. He's sooo cute. He really is. For more information, and to donate money, go to our 'justgiving' team page
Since the LEJOG became a bit more popular as a cycling challenge, we realised that 'LEJOG' as a name for the trip was a little over-used, so we vowed to come up with a new name, and after several months of talking, discussion, planning, and many iterations, we decided on the 'Long Exhausting Journey Over Great britain'... with the brand new and excitingly different acronym of 'LEJOG'. I think we went wrong somewhere!
Will E. Do-it (Andrew Miller) is young and athletic, and at 39 years old, he feels able to step off of his zimmer frame and take up the bicycle as a means of transport for 3 short weeks for the LEJOG.
Will E. Make-it (Nick Andrew) is old and weather-beaten, and at 39 years old (turning 40 on 21st June), he is planning to rise very gently from his orthopedic bed (after a good bed-bath, of course), get into his wheelchair, make his way to Lands End, and hope that his balance and cycling abilities that he had when he was 20 are still there today..!
