Rain and wind, Rain and wind, Rain and wind, Rain and wind, Rain and wind, Rain and wind, Headwind, headwind, headwind.
That's pretty much today's story told. The weather wasn't good to us today... Andrew asked me for the good news on the weather this morning and I told him heavy rain... The bad news that I didn't tell him this morning was the amber wind warning... Very strong winds, and blustery.. And as we turned towards Exeter, they became headwinds... Not too pleasant...!
we also had a blocked road.. We had gone up another hill, and found a big lorry in the road that we squeezed past, but behind it was a trailer house, diagonally across the road such that it was impossible to get past.. In the end we had to go back to the nearest gate and pass it on the field next to the road... 300 metres through long grass.
There's a few things that I need to cover to finish off today's blog... Firstly, I've not mentioned it before, but we've both been coughing and wheezing so far on the journey... We must have picked up a disease from somewhere, but let's hope it goes soon...!
Secondly, as much as almost everyone has been very friendly in Devon and Cornwall, we've heard a few times when people ask for something in a shop or hotel, that it can't be done... Yesterday was someone asking for cheese in his scrambled eggs... But they don't do that apparently.. They can do omelet with cheese in, but not scrambled eggs with cheese in..... !.. Maybe someone can explain this..?
we had a very wet lunch with many apologies about the wet floor underneath us in an American diner... it was great food, and a very welcome respite from the weather...!
We're off to Bridgewater tomorrow... We've no idea of the terrain, but it's got to be done, so we're going to do it... Check out the 26mph side winds tomorrow...!... and here's a news report about the bad weather in tavistock the day we were there...!

Oh, one more thing... Don't bother staying at the clock Tower hotel in Exeter... They aren't very helpful at all...!
fish and chips for dinner tasted great, but just didn't give us enough energy... we'll be staying off those until we finish...
