Rosalinde Irene Andrew came home on the afternoon of 28th April :-)
first impressions are that all of the moving around in the womb did her wonders..!
Day 3
she's strong..! she can already hold her neck up on her own or her whole body weight on her legs for a short period
She's easily disturbed by noise, but lights are no problem
her crying is more like wingeing than screaming (which is really nice)
We three are enjoying some time together now, and we will have friends over to visit when we are ready.
Day 4
This was a transition day... going from "how will we do this" to "we might be able to do this"
She slept 2 hours on dads chest in the afternoon.. that was fantastic! #lifegoals
Day 5
Jaundice test in the morning - all good.
she's startled in the cutest way.... by throwing her arms in the air and not even opening her eyes if she's asleep.!
Day 5 was a new day... we could really breathe a sigh of relief. we all had 4 hours sleep on the night before and "we can do this!"
Day 6
I saw her smile for the first time this morning... after feeding she was dreaming and had a whole bunch of facial expressions, but the best is definitely a smile.!
What a lovely start to the morning... we went for a walk (daddy and rosalinde)... she couldn't settle until we got to the park... but she was still unsettled... daddy picked her up, and within one minute she had filled daddy's hand with poo (under the nappy, luckily). she fell asleep for the rest of the walk!
Rose and I are really finding our rhythm today... we are trying to lengthen the times between feeds to 3-4 hours. Rosalinde is OK, but getting used to it.
Daddy did his first ever crying baby pick up, settle, and return her to the bassinet today #prouddad
Great lunch cooked by Anne, and a lovely dinner cooked by Rose sister and her partner.
We can do this.
Day 7 & 8
we've been learning a lot about how rosalinde acts and what good for her and what's not
She's getting dehydrated a little a times, so we are taking great care to give her lots of milk, especially when she's been in hot environments, either outside or inside under her blanket.
Rose is recovering still obviously, but doing a fantastic job of looking after our 'little puffin'..!
everyone has been so nice, looking after us by sending best wishes, food or other help..!
I had my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine today (day 8)... woohoo...!
