TGP: I've almost finished a little something that will come on the holiday with us, depending on it's perceived usefulness once it's built. A bicycle Alarm.
I don't think we'll need a bicycle alarm too much while we're away, as we're staying in hotels all of the time, with the bicycle parked securely away at night, but there's at least one hotel that can't take our bike possibly, so we might have to lock them up for the night...
I've built this kit and it works a treat... it's a lot more sensitive than I thought it would be... so sensitive in fact that I thought it wasn't working properly at one point because it kept going off..!
I've amended the kit slightly as the original kit comes with a headphone type plug and socket for turning it on and off, which I've just replaced with an on/off switch...all of which fits inside this box.
The main aim of the alarm from my point of view is to deter thieves that might try to steal my bike by making a loud noise... and also to let me know if someone's doing something with my bike overnight if I've had to lock my bike to a tree, and I'm asleep in my tent... and the buzzer that comes with the kit is just not up to that task adequately.... it's kind-of loud, but not really enough, so last night I invested in ordering a siren, which will hopefully work with the kit and will hopefully wake the neighbours...!!!
I'll post pictures later today and will keep you in the loop once the siren arrives....!
