Today was a long day.. It ended up as 75.4 miles, which is more than planned, but the route was correct so we're not sure where the extra miles came from..?
We had a Hill coming at 15 miles into today that we were both nervous about.. It was 1200 feet, and could have been horrible but in the end it was a long drag, in some way a disappointment.. We were expecting more..! This was us taking a break on the run-up to the hill..
We stopped in Pontesbury for lunch and had a great panini, as well as one more to take away... This is where those panini's, cups of tea, and a few flapjacks once stood...
After we got down to the lowlands, there were mostly small hills that didn't really mean much, and then very flat roads, but by this time a small headwind had started, and Andrew did the pulling at the front for all of it... He did an excellent job of it.. Credit where credit is due... I also did a great job of following him too...! We also dodged a few thunderstorms today... We didn't get caught in any..!
During the ride today we broke three of our records.. We recorded the highest point so far at 1183 feet, we had the longest ride so far, and had our best average speed of 11.2 miles an hour for the day...!
We're off to Kirkby Lonsdale tomorrow.. It's another long day, but with a few more hills than today, and we pass Liverpool, meaning that we are officially "oop t' north". Fantastic to see that we have nearly overtaken our target on justgiving..!.. if you haven't donated yet, please do so...! Http://www.justgiving.com/teams/lejog-at-40
