We were feeling a bit better about today's journey after looking at the maps last night and realising that the distance to Dalmellington was only 48 miles, and the hills weren't as bad as they could be, but the headwind was still going to be there...
Haggis and potato scones for breakfast were fantastic, and we had 2 scotch pies for lunch too... Which I haven't had before, but were really good...!.. I'm hoping for my first red cola tomorrow, and maybe an irn bru too...
We agreed that if we were at Dalmellington and still feeling good, we would press on for ayr, another 15 miles further on... And that's what we did, after stopping briefly at the Dalmellington hotel to sort that out, and it must have been happy hour there at 2pm today, coz the pub was full and everyone was already very "happy"...! Apparently catholics were non too welcome there..
This is the profile today.. It's hilly enough...! The climbing was quite enjoyable today. Long shallow climbs mean that you can get into a rhythm with the pedals and really get somewhere...
We got to ayr about 3pm, and the queens guest house is great, with Really friendly owners... Very chatty...
Tomorrow we are going across arran and finishing in Tarbert, so with only 35 miles to go, it's not too bad, but with a 25mph headwind, the journey will not be easy...!
